Thanks to all who attended Coding the Amazon Echo last night! Adithya Balasubramanian did an awesome job showing the basics of creating an Alexa skill. I went to Amazon.com and bought an Echo Dot when I got home. Hopefully I'll have some time to make some useful skills to sahre!

Python - Building Django Apps

Wed, Oct 11, 2017

Building apps in Django is a lot of fun! Ryan Fox and I gave a presentation on Django basics at the MKE Python meetup. WebDev: Building Django Apps

Ryan focused on the API basics including templating, routes, and modeling. I focused on some specific features such as extending the models to take advantage of the administration module, and User model. All in all, it was a great meetup!

That Conference - Graph Database Talk

Wed, Aug 09, 2017

I gave a talk at That Conference this year titled Graph Databases - What Why How. This was my first conference talk, and I was a bit nervous about it. Luckily the session attendees were awesome and had many great questions. This helped the time fly by, and before I knew it my 60 minutes were up! Slide deck for those interested.

This was my first year attending That Conference, and it was very impressive. Clark Sells did a killer job putting this even together. The kids had a blast at the water park. Unfortunatly they were a bit young for the family sessions. I think they will enjoy the conference aspect more once they are at least six years old.

All in all, I can't wait for That Conference 2018!

Hack & Tell - Brainstorm Session

Fri, Jul 21, 2017

Thanks to everyone who attended the Hack & Tell - Brainstorm Session @ Digital Measures. I think it went really well. I really enjoyed the open discussion, and sharing of ideas and side projects. I'll schedule another session like this before the next Hack & Tell.

Let me know if you liked having the brainstorming session on the same week as the Hack & Tell, or if you'd like it a week earlier to have more prep time between the meetup event, and the Hack & Tell event.

Another big thanks to SafeNet Consulting, whose sponsorship paid for the Raspberry PI. Congrats to Trent Rogers, I hope you get a lot of good use out of it! Another big thanks to Digital Measures for the space, and pizza. Keep hacking!
